Mr. La Forge (Yoga Trainer) suspects that because the mind-body exercises typically are easier to pursue, executives have a better chance of making a lifetime habit of them. To see if his hunch is correct, he launched a five-year study of 110 middle- and upper-level executives in companies in the US. He tracks their exercise habits and see if those incorporating mind-body techniques stick with the program longer.

Devotees say the mind-body exercise regimen has a payoff in the workplace, as well.

Barry Moltz, 36, founder and CEO of CHTech International., a mail-order distributor of computer hardware and software, started doing Yoga a year ago at the to balance the pressures of growing a business with starting a family. He still works out in a gym and commutes to work on his bicycle, but he also meditates in the half-lotus position for 15 or 20 minutes at night after his two young children have gone to sleep.

He says most of his friends, also in their mid-30s, have jumped on similar mind-body fitness tracks.

”I think the toughest part about running a company is that there are so many demands on your time. When I meditate, it really allows me to relax and focus all my energies in one place,” he says. ”Now when I’m involved in a meeting, I can be immersed in that meeting instead of thinking about 15 other things. And people really respond when you’re totally focused on just them.”

The pressures of the job say you shouldn’t be satisfied where you are today. You can never feel like you’ve achieved anything because it’s very elusive. Yoga and meditation allows you to be happier and more effective in what you’re doing now.

Diabetic Child’s Birthday Party: It’s A Piece Of Cake!

If you have a child with diabetes then your job as a parent is a little harder than for other parents on most days. But what about a special day like a birthday — and the party! What a headache!

Well, not necessarily.

There are some very simple steps that you can take to make sure that your diabetic child not only is safe at a birthday party, but is part of the gang and pretty much treated like everyone else. It is always important that your child does not feel that they are different from their friends, but that is particularly true for diabetic children, and especially so at a birthday party — especially if it is someone else’s.

Your diabetic child needs to be able to play the same games as their friends, eat the same party food as the other guests, and at the end of the party they need to take home near enough the same goodie-bags. You worry that the party food will send their blood sugar levels all out of whack, and that all the fun, excitement, and strenuous activity will surely make all management of their diabetes almost impossible!

But, to be honest, you don’t have to worry about all of that — you just need to take these six simple precautions for before and after the party (and during, if you will be around):
o Check your child’s blood sugar level before they go to the party just to make sure they are okay going in. It just makes simple sense to ensure their blood sugar levels are not close to the edge before they even start having fun.

o Check that your child will have access to suitable drinks — sugar-free, or low-sugar (including ‘diet’ drinks). You may find this easier than you think: many parents these days are careful to make sure their children do not have too much in the way of full-sugar drinks because of possible damage to their teeth, as well as the adverse impact on their general health, so there will usually be suitable drinks available anyway.

o Check that the food is not all sugary, and that starchy carbohydrates will be available — for example sandwiches, potato (in various forms such as crisps, chips, or wedges). Make sure the person in charge of the food knows that your child needs to eat some of them. But equally, make sure that the person in charge of the food knows that it is okay for a diabetic to eat some sugary sweet food — sugar does not have to be cut out of a diabetic’s diet completely.

o Make sure that there is someone at the party who knows the symptoms of a diabetic attack (hypo) and make sure they know what to do if that happens.

o If you are not planning to stay at the party with your child, make sure you can be easily contacted, and make sure that at least two adults at the party know how to contact you (and make sure you keep your phone on!).

o When the party is over, check your child’s blood sugar level again just to make sure they are still okay and their diabetes is still under control.

You really don’t need to worry. Remember that diabetes does not mean “no sugar” — it means low sugar, controlled sugar. With some careful preparation your child can not only enjoy a birthday party with relatively little risk, but can also feel that great sense of togetherness with their friends.

Finding Balance With The Autumn Equinox

The Equinox is a very special time of the year when the light and dark periods of day and night are equal and perfectly balanced. In your own life, you can seek balance between opposites while nature powerfully yet silently mirrors her balance and magnificence to you.

The Equinox is a time to reap the fruits of your labor; revisit intentions you set for your health and well being throughout the year; take stock of your blessings, successes, challenges and lessons; and celebrate with friends and healthy food as you prepare to head into the quiet and stillness of winter.

In this article, I’ll share some helpful ways to bring balance and harmony to your life during this beautiful and abundant harvest season.

Begin by taking a few hours or days to reflect on the past six months of your life. Recall the goals, intentions, dreams and visions you had for yourself. Then reflect on your triumphs, challenges, adventures, opportunities lost and taken, your relationships, body, exercise, spiritual practice, home cooking, travel, work or career path, your home environment and any other area of your life. If you like writing in a journal, then write or if you prefer talking with a friend or reflecting inward, so be it. Just spend time reflecting and recalling the past.

Next, observe where you lost or found balance. Based on your observations, dream and visualize a new life of balance, harmony and peace.

Here are some examples:

- I realize that I overworked myself and pushed myself too hard. Now I want to create more joy and ease in my work life. Instead of pushing so hard, I’m going to shift from the accomplishment mentality to a mindset based on inspiration. I’m going to allow the Universe to flow through me and recognize that my work and life’s passion are a service to humanity and that I can release all fears associated with being an abundant being.

- I realize that I could have eaten a lot healthier and nourished my body, mind and spirit with whole, real organic foods from the earth. Now, in this season of new beginnings, my deepest intention is to listen to my beautiful body and to nourish it with real, whole, organic foods. I’d like to focus on preparing more meals at home and taking my lunch to work three times a week.

- I realize that I feel totally disconnected spiritually and I know that I feel so much better when I meditate, pray or practice yoga. In this new season, I intend to meditate at least five minutes each day to clear my thoughts and give my mind a break.

- I’m so grateful that I was able to spend lots of quality time playing and enjoying nature this summer. Nature revitalizes, invigorates and connects me to my spirit. I love how expansive and alive I feel when I’m at the beach or in the mountains. My deepest intention is to continue connecting with nature several times per week.

- I’m so grateful for the fun vacations I got to take this season. I know that vacationing regularly amplifies my energy and helps me be the best version of myself. I intend to take at least one weekend off every six weeks to do something fun and to help me get out of any ruts and limiting habits that I may have gotten sucked into.

- I realize that I could sleep more. I’m going to allow myself to sleep in at least once a week this season.

Continue to reflect on your relationships, home environment, body, family, exercise program and any other area of your life.

Awareness is power. The more conscious you are of your actions the better prepared you are to make healthy changes and transformations in your life.

Here’s to your new beginnings! I wish you the very best in your health, relationships, career, exercise, spirituality and in nourishing yourself in every way possible!

3 Plateau Busters To Bring New Muscle Growth

If your training is stuck in a rut and you keep hammering away at the weights, only to see zero results, you have hit the all too familiar plateau.

Even though many hate these common speed bumps, they can be good for your training, as they tell you that your body is bored and you need to shake things up a bit.

Doing the same exact thing day in and day out causes plateaus. If you don’t change anything in your training, your body certainly is not going to change. If you want changes, you have to change.

Bursting through plateaus can come in many forms, such as varying sets, speed, repetitions, tempo, as well as hand and foot placement. In fact, any change made in your training is a new type of stress to your body, causing it to respond and sparking new growth.

Below are some of my favorite shock techniques. I incorprorate them from time to time when I need to make a change or if I feel my workout is lacking.

Drop/Burn Sets for Plateau Busters

The drop/burn sets can be considered two different training principles, but I group them together sometimes for an insane workout. For example, if I am curling 60 pounds on the EZ curl bar and I get to my final repetition with that weight and I can no longer do them with proper form I incorporate this training principle.

I will have my training partner, or anyone in the gym, strip off half the weight as quickly as possible, and then I pump out as many repetitions as I can with that until my biceps are fatigued again.

At that point I have them strip more weight off and I continue curling until all the weight is removed from the bar and the bar itself weighs a ton. I curl that bar as much as I can and that’s my drop/burn set. Talk about setting the biceps on fire and getting a wild pump! The drop/burn sets will do it nearly every time.

Isometric Training for Plateau Busters

Oh yes… Isometric training can be a killer too. This can also be called static training. Isometric training is basically holding the repetition at mid-point during or at the end of the set. It is to completely exhaust the targeted muscle, and it does it well.

For example, I am doing lying leg extensions for hamstrings. After I get to my last few repetitions and know my final one is coming, I will hold that last repetition at mid-point for as long as I can. I will even have my spotter add resistance to the foot padding by literally pushing down on it. I hold this as long as possible and lower slowly.

Talk about feeling the hamstrings after that! If you think you are walking after this, forget it. Better do some stretching and call a cab to bring you home. I’m just joking, but it is an intense workout sure to shock your training

Forced Reps for Plateau Busters

Forced reps are another favorite of mine, which allows you to go beyond failure. This training principle takes a spotter or training partner, too.

Lift your weight as normal, getting in all your repetitions and when your muscles become fatigued, your spotter steps in and assists you in lifting those final few repetitions that you cannot complete on your own.

For example, when doing the lat pull-down, as usual, I will pump out as many repetitions as I can myself. When muscle fatigue hits, my spotter is behind me assisting me in the pulling movement. My spotter will lightly push down on the bar as I am pulling so I can complete those final repetitions I couldn’t have without the assistance.

Remember, the best training is brief, using proper form with maximum intensity.

Chemical peel treatment is more effective than Microdermabrasion in terms of getting rid of the scars and blemishes. It involves using chemicals that cause the peeling of the top layers of the skin exposing the new inner layers that are fresh and free of scars and blemishes. Chemical peels could be home administered or hospital administered depending on the type of peel. There are just too many peels available, hence it is important to choose the right peel to get rid of your old acne scars and blemishes and get back your youthful appearance.
